i'm alive again

I meant to post this when I left for a school retreat on wednesday, but I couldn't really get myself to get up earlier than normal. I'm not really much of a spiritual person, but I really learned a lot about myself and made some new friends so it was definitely worth it.

I found this image on tumblr somewhere and I am kind of mesmerized every time I look at it. Its so witty and draws so much focus to her eyes;v I wish vogue did black and white covers more.

its like prom for celebrities

A lot of people in the fashion world say they hate celebrities and the award shows etc. but I love them. I don't care for a lot of stars but I can appreciate those who are talented and make me laugh/cry/angry/happy/passionate, etc. I snooze through a lot of the speeches(but get super emotional with others) but I can appreciate the beautiful creations that they get to wear. It's a chance to admire the stunning gowns that we lust after on the runway but would otherwise never get to see worn.

I generally hate best/worst dressed lists because I really think it depends on each person's personal taste and people can be ridiculously insensitive, but here are some of the gowns that made me smile.

gg lv gg lanvin
a. The moment I saw this LV dress my heart skipped a beat. I've seen this collection all over magazines and I adore the ads, but to see it on a real person was even better. love love love

b. I love a shocking pink or red on a ginger and this Lanvin number definitely fit the bill. At first I was a bit confused with the neckline, but the moreI looked at it the more I fell in love. It looked even better onscreen.

gg calvin klain 2 gg calvin klein

c,d.While most chose gaudier and more extravagent gowns, a little injection of this season's minimalism was definitely in order. These calvin klein dresses were perfect. As much as I love sequins and tulle and ruffles I think a simple silhouette is the epitome of effortless chic. The colors look washed out in the photos but were truly brillant onscreen.

gg prada gowngg victor&rolf gown stella mccartney shoes
e. There really isn't much to say about Nicole Kidman's prada gown. I liked its simplicity and I love one shoulder gowns. The sequins give the white a nice punch.

f. It would be completely accurate to say that I might have an obsession with Natalie Portman. Ever since I saw Where the Heart Is when I was like 13 I've loved her acting. And even better yet, she's an advocate for the earth and is VEGAN. I look forward to seeing what she wears just to find new vegan eco/vegan designers.I have yet to see black swans because no one will see it with me, but hopefully soon. ps she's wearing a victor&rolf gown with stellla heels.

gg oscar de la rentagg marchesa
g. I have to say that seeing anyone wear Oscar is always a treat. He's one of the designers that consistently shows gowns that you just want to steal off the runway and wear to every special(or just plain normal) day of your life.

h. Another house that never fails in my book is Marchesa. I can look at their dresses again and again and still smile. I love that navy was chosen here instead of black; as much as I love black, I think it is highly overplayed in award shows and the navy allows all of the subtle details to be fully admired.
gg atelier versace long-sleeved emerald gowngg vera wang

i. Angelina always looks gorgeous on the red carpet, but never really suprises me. I love emerald tones and long sleeves, but wheres the wow factor? Gown by Versace.
j. All hail Vera Wang. This dress was definitely one of my favorites. I always love a single shoulder, and again, emerald, but the fabric detail here is simply divine. Mila looks fabulous.

gg armani prive
k. Anne in Armani gets me every time. She always embodies that old holywood glamour that most celebrities never seem to achieve. Long sleeves, sparkle, pinkish tone. sigh.
l. Once again, I cannot say enough about Marchesa. Their designs are so dreamy and probably make you feel like your on top of the world when you're wearing one of their gowns(not that I would know...). Give me and abundance of tulle and sequins and I'm on board. And LOOK AT THOSE LOUBS. I think they totally bring the look perfectly over the top.
marchesagg marchesa 2 louboutin heels
m. Even though I really loved Olivia in Marchesa, my favorite look hands down was Catherine Zeta Jones in Monique Lhuiller. Show stoppin. I don't really have much to say, I just thought that the jewelry, gown shape, hair, everything just came together perfectly.

gg monique lhuillier gown catherine zeta jonesgg monique lhuillier gown
I totally understand if this was extremely boring and nothing new, but I just thought I'd share.
p.s. How freakin adorable was Chris Colfer's speech?

"those are all people who can't sing, wear too little clothing, and get married too young. what do we call those sorts of people?" "AMERICANS!!"

So I don't normally do outfit posts,
1. Because I don't have anyone to be my photographer and I don't have a tripod
2. I'm in my uniform 5 out of 7 days of the week
But here's what I wore yesterday while shopping and running errands.

you look like oprah

“Yes, the rumours are true, I’m homosexual” Freja Beha recently confirmed in an online interview with Runway Magazine.
To the question why she has chosen to come out in this very moment, she replied: “It’s very important for celebrities to come out of the closet. Coming out is a political statement, I finally realized that.”

Who didn't see that one coming? Hell yeah for her

just fuck it

So i've just finished season 2 of skins and for some reason I think I missed the last couple episodes the first time I ran the season because I didn't remember any of the end- it was so sad. The whole Chris part made me cry and the end left me with so many questions! Its a pity that the next seasons had all new characters except for effy&pandora, but I think it was time. The writers had the right mind by not dragging it on for ages and just ending it on a respectable note.

ANYWAY, I just realized that I'm a month and a couple weeks from my birthday! I'm actually quite excited- I think 18'll be a fun one. I'll finally be able to get my nose pierced, something that I've been wanting to do for a really long time. We have a no facial piercing policy at school but I think I'll be able to manage with a stud perhaps. I WANT A RING. Oh well I'll be outta private school soon enough, eh? :)
School tomorrow, off friday yessss

Ahh snow days- slept till 9:30, watched Skins, colored with my little brother and baked chocolate chip cookies. a perfect day! Also, my asos order came in and i'm really pleased with my dress(i'm sending the other back though).

Anyway, I found this ... there aren't really any words. I love his philopsohy and his passion.

i think i raised a republican

Finding shoes is the hardest part of being vegan, period. So when I find shoes that are non leather and are actually cute, I go for it.
balenciaga/sam edelman harness', miu miu sparrows, d&g face knocks.
ebay is the best.

shoe 2
shoe 5 shoe 3
shoe 6 shoe 7

Which ones to buy is the question. No job= little cash, so I can afford 2, maybe 3 pairs.

p.s. I want a snow day, dammit.

i'm on the creamy crack

I'm so excited for Skins to hit the US. I know it won't be able to touch the uk version but I'm still hoping it'll be alright! I started rewatching the old seasons and I forgot how much I adore cassie's style. Its so quirky, boho prep and slightly mad, like her personality. God, I miss the original cast!

do not touch ma' weave

After I get tired of doing my jillian michaels workout I usually take a day off and just turn on mtv and jam out. I have to make sure that no one else is in the house(you'd understand if you've ever seen me dance). I usually go crazy and try to copy their moves or do like one move the entire song. Its super silly. But I love it. I'm worried what I'm going to do in college though....

These are some that I've been jammin to recently ^^^^

lesbian lovers

So I have a dance coming up and it's a tradition for seniors to wear floor length dresses. I'm planning on wearing vintage of some sort, but so far I haven't been having much luck. Iwant a free-flowing, boho 70s, glam style gown. After browsing etsy for weeks, I stumbled upon this vintage kimono maxi today!

What do you think?
I need opinions please!
Suggestions for good, around/under $100 vintage gown websites would be appreciated too.
