the cedar trees are calling

Exams are finally over, its summer! I am so happy, especially because summer = CAMP. I work at a girl scout camp and I have a new position teaching horseback riding lessons and such which I am unbelievably excited about. I'll be gone for 9 weeks; I'm not really sure how my very limited internet access + blogging is going to work, so we'll just have to make it up as we go along! Also, next thursday I'm leaving for my EUROPE TRIP! I'll be in Germany, Switzerland, France and Italy till the 16, so I wouldn't expect any blogging during that time.... but I'll be sure to take tons of pictures to share later!








I'm not really sure where all of these are from, but some jak&jil, whitelightening, googleimages, sartorialist, fashion monster etc.

And btw I've crowned Iris Apfel as my ultimate style icon. I can't even handle the cuffs she is wearing the whole video.... I would die to get a peek inside her closet!

Beckerman Bite Plate

So I'm taking another break from exam studying.... its seriously the only thing that keeps me semi sane. Anyways, somehow while I was browsing blogs yesterday I stumbled upon Beckerman Bite Plate, which is run by the Beckerman sisters Callianne, Samantha and Chloe.

Originally from Toronto, they went to school at FIT, where their entire senior thesis collection was picked up by a department store in Tokyo and was featured in Nyon. The trio started designing the line Beckermans, and their clothes have been featured in an impressive amount of magazines including: British Vogue, Elle, Vogue Nippon, US Vogue, WWD, Paper, Marie Claire, New York Times, Vogue Canada, Newsweek, Nylon and more. It does't look like they do clothes anymore, but they still do jewelery.

Basically I having been stalking their entire archive and I love all of their outfits. They wear bright, statement pieces mixed with vintage finds that makes for a sick look. Calliane has an awesome green army trench from a surplus store that I am in love with; definitley hitting up an army surplus store friday! And I never knew how much I wanted a bright yellow poncho or cloud trench...

Cinco, Cinco, Cinco de Mayo.

Hello! I hope you're all doing well! I hope your Cinco de Mayo festivities were crazy! I couldn't go out on the actual day, but I did make it a point to go to the Cinco de Mayo street festival on Cherokee. This street has a major Mexican presence, so it has a lot of mexican restaurants, grocery stores and everything is written in spanish & english. It was so fun! They had live music, a mechanical bull and some really cool sreet artists.

If you're ever in the area, head to Diana's Bakery; the churros are fantastic, and from what I've heard the other baked goods are delicious.

I basically live on this street; I went shopping there on monday, and again on wednesday(had a churro both times....so much for moderation lol). And I got the best tortata ever at the cutest place I've ever seen! I'll definitely have to show you next time.

Isn't Krystal so awesome? She seems so incredibly in touch and down to earth. I really love her outlook on life. And her mother seems like the coolest lady ever; she traveled the world, was a total hippy and was friends with some of the best bands. I want to be her... not even kidding.

Hello! I haven't posted in a long time. Valid excuse- TONS of exam projects. I'm so busy and stressed, I can hardly stand it. I haven't done much recently, but I've been thrifting a lot; it keeps me sane. And I've yielded some fantastic finds.

Anyways, can I just say how much I am in love wtih Romance Was Born! Their RAFW 2010 collection is ridiculous.... it has me dreaming of fairies and unicorns....an acid version of narnia/alice? Reminds me of McQueen quite a lot.
