“The old believe everything; the middle aged suspect everything: the young know everything.”

Hello! First of all- thank you all so much for the birthday wishes! I had such a fantastic weekend, I'm so sad to go to school tomorrow.
Friday I got up and went thrifting. For some reason I never have much luck finding any good vintage. And I usually go a couple times a week too. Then I went to target and got some new brown wedges that are soooooo comfortable. Possibly my new favorite shoes. I tried on some amazing Ann Demeulemeester knocks from f21. Soooo gorg. Going to buy them this week hopefully. Then I went out to lunch at Sweet Art in shaw park. Its this amazing vegetarian/vegan cafe/bakery that doubles as an art gallery. It was SO GOOD. There are a lot of really sketch veg places in st.louis, but sweet art was really inviting and quite popular. I had this vegan banana bread cupcake w/ pb icing and chocolate center that was divine! yumm. After that I went home and walked my dog because the weather was beautiful. I ended the night by going out to dinner at this peruvian restaurant downtown for a friends birthday.

Saturday I got up and made myself some vegan donuts. I picked up some stuff at f21 and totally scored some great pieces off the sale rack. Went to SweetArt again. Had an amazing vegan red velvet cupcake and brookie. This could become a problem. Sang a wedding(my choir does it to keep tuition down). The bride looked so pretty and started crying when she said her vows. Then some friends took me out to a great tapas restaurant named Modesto that was so good. It was the first time we'd been to one and I loved it. Then we went to the central west end for ice cream & coffee.
It was literally the best birthday ever.
Sorry for the intense details, but it was a great weekend.

Anyways, this is looking to be a super stressful week. I have a bunch of tests(ahh chem), a french project due and I'm trying out for the musical. Wish me luck...I've never done one before!

I'm obsessed with those buckle shoes and the beige ones.

Fucking amazing. I would have never thought that highlighter yellow would ever look good as a hair color. Normally I might have thought highlights gone bad but this is fantastic.

I really like the man on the right. I wish more men wore bow ties. And suits. And eskimo hats.
Edit: noo the amazing man on the right got cut out. Heres the original.

Jeepers Creepers

Hello! For some reason yesterday, I randomly remembered those gothic platform "creepers" that have been circulating on the blogosphere a while now. I was curious, so I googled them. According to wikipedia, they are called Brothel Creepers, and originated in WWII, when soldiers stationed in african deserts wore suede boots with hard crepe soles. They were invented in 1949 and remained popular through the 50s and 60s.
"The brothel creeper regained popularity in the early 70s when Malcolm McLarensold them from his Let it Rock shop in London"s King's Road. Teddy Boys were the obvious customer, but the brothel creeper still proved to be popular among regular customers when McLaren and his partner Vivienne Westwood changed the shop to more rocker-oriented fashion."
The shoe has since been adopted by subcultures such as ska, punk new wavers, greasers and goth." (wikipedia)
They've become pretty popular in the fashion world(as evident on TUK'S blog). Refinery 29 even did a post on the ways designers are translating the trend.

Michelle found these for only 10 pounds at a charity shop. She wears them here.
And here are some from Rivithead online:

I looked at quite a few different sites and the prices seemed to be from around $50-$80. Some sites even have some vegan ones.

And I ABSOLUTELY LOVE these Sonia Rykiel creepers(right, phi on the left). They're only about $1,346. Birthday present?

These are not exactly pretty shoes, but I think thats what I like about them. So ugly they're amazing? A lot of people hate them, but I can see myself buying a pair if I could find them a bit cheaper. I can only imagine what kind of looks i'd get!

So what do you think? hot or not?

Off tomorrow....hopefully i'll have some good finds to show you!

I really love his american flag shoes at the beginning! And the different plaids together plus that bag is to die for. And that cardigan!
I finally ordered my canon rebel yesterday! I am so excited, but it doesn't come for 5-9 days : (
But I have friday off to look forward too! I'm hoping to do some major thrifting and check out some new cafes in south city. I'm especially excited for this place that sells VEGAN CUPCAKES! I haven't had a good cupcake since going vegan, so wish me luck!

pringle of scotland

Good morning lovelies. So hopefully sometime today i'll post my outfit from yesterday, but i'm just having some trouble uploading from my sisiter's camera. I'm in chemistry right now, I should probably pay attention considering its my worst class... Oh well....

Pringle of Scotland showed a really great collection in my opinion. Nothing really mind blowing, but some great basics and stunning dresses. I am really loving the chunky knits and felt-ish vest-coast thing.

Christian Siriano for Payless. I tried these on yesterday and they are really comfortable and really cute in person. And a steal at only $35.99. They kind of remind me of Karla's Margiela pumps(okayy....a bit of a stretch...but those are what came to mind at first) or those marni's that have been all over the editorials. I think I'll be picking up a pair in blue(b-day present hint hint). Oh and I picked up this GORGEOUS two-finger silver cross ring from forever 21 today(its not on the website) that I am dying to show you guys! Hopefully my camera surfaces soon!

Some AMAZING shoe porn a la Refinery 29. I am in love with the michael kors duck shoes. I think they'll be perfect winter to spring transitional shoes. Oh and I have some EXCITING NEWS! I have finally saved enough for my camera which i'm planning on buying this week! yayayayayay! And to celebrate my birthday this saturday(!) I've decided that I'm going to dress fabulously the whole week to celebrate. Hopefully I'll snap some pictures, but my digital is currently MIA so we'll see.

P.S. I haven't really been scanning anymore shows, and I'm not gonna lie: the olympics are a lot more exciting(and important) to me. I mean, in two weeks the fashion world will still be there, with more shows in milan and paris, but the olympics will be done for two years. It is one of the rare moments when I get really happy and proud to be an american. And I really enjoy looking at shaun white. Don't judge. I know you do too.

GORGEOUS. I'd tap that. hahaha : )

Have a great week!

Threeasfour

threeasfour threeasfour 2
threeasfour 1
New york fashion week has always really fascinated me. I love seeing great American designers showing their collections(and more importantly, what people are wearing to them). But it also overwhelms me a ton! With so many collections constantly coming all week(plus london, milan, paris following) I can never catch up. So I usually look at as many as I can now, but just chill until things die down and I'm not so overwhelmed.
However, I have gotten a chance to look at some collections, and threeasfour has really stuck out. I'm not going to pretend that I know much about fashion or collections or the shows, but I really love the directon their going. These pictures really don't do the intricate rope details(i'd recomend going to style.com and viewing them fullscreen) justice.
I'm planning on doing some more reviews this week, but bear with me, I've been awfully busy lately.
Have a great day!
